Rock of Ages
We were driving through the Colorado Mountains during Spring break and drove past a little church that looks similar to the one in the painting. It made me think of the thousands of old hymns its held within its walls.
I immediately came home from that trip and painted the old church at sunrise. I named the piece after an old hymn, Rock of Ages.
“Rock of Ages, cleft for me,
let me hide myself in thee;”
Original canvas is 11x14.
